Can regex validate that a date actually exists?

Regex can validate the format and basic ranges (months 1-12, days 1-31) but cannot check calendar logic like leap years or that April has 30 days, not 31. Use regex for initial format validation, then pass the matched date to a date parsing library for full logical validation.
